I had a great time in early February, shooting for Benott Floors , producers of bespoke luxury flooring : they have a current range of fifty floor types, all of which needed photographing for their new brochure and website. We created some mini sets with complete floors in their warehouse and, with the help of a platform created by their team, shot some overhead PR images with selected props:
We then photographed each sample board (fifty of them !) three times: once to show a large section of the flooring pattern to give web visitors a good idea of the product:

Finally, for their new brochure, we shot all the samples again from a semi-overhead position, with softer lighting to simulate how each very distinct sample might appear on the floor of a daylit room.
As an additional service (and to make life easier for all concerned!) we were able to enter each sample's unique reference number into the metadata for each image. We also supplied some large montage files of all the samples with their identifying numbers for quick reference, essential for the graphic designer who will be creating their new brochure. Naming or coding product images precisely at time of shooting is a great way to ensure large volume catalogues of images remain under control. We can also keyword images to make them easier to group by category/ finish etc in a database/ image asset management system. Contact Simon to find out more about this.
